Image Box Software Re-load

How to reload the software on an Agfa Image Box kiosk

This looks complicated but it is not, just follow the instructions 1 line at at time and you will get the job done. There are a few options depending on your setup but none of this is difficult with this info to hand.

Failure to accurately follow these steps may result in damage.

Read through the steps and decide on how to proceed for your own situation, using the large red headings to guide you.
Before you start you will need:
1.) A keyboard and mouse (PS2 or USB are both OK) - connected to rear of Image Box
2.) An OS installer CD version 3.2.0
3.) The Software License Keys for your machine (supplied at time of installation)
*see note at bottom of page if you have lost these
4.) If possible - the backup disks for Workstation and Kiosk modes (you should make these from time to time and they will have been done after installation)
1.) Everybody - Re-writing the software onto the hard disk
1.) Place CD in drive and turn Image box off and then back on
2.) Wait until Norton Ghost has copied the drive across and a message is displayed to tell you to remove the CD and restart the Image Box
3.) Follow this message - remove the CD and restart the Image Box - having connected your keyboard and mouse
4.) Wait for the process to complete when it will finish with a screen where a girl in an Agfa catsuit asks you to select Workstation or Kiosk mode - you select Kiosk
Note - If the touch screen cursor fails to follow your finger (in fact it may be exactly opposite to what you touch) use the mouse instead and follow instructions for Touch Screen Calibration below
2.) Then either - Reload backups from disk (if you have made / kept disks)
1.) With Kiosk mode launched you tap the Agfa logo (top left of screen) 3 times to be asked for a password - the password is -     eboxservice
2.) This will launch the grey screen (control area for all kiosk settings)
3.) If required now you do Touch Screen Calibration, just launch it with the mouse from the options down the right hand side and  follow the on screen prompts for Calibrate by touching targets etc then simply exit this and return to step 4. If the touch screen was OK then skip step 3.
4.) Go to save and restore settings and reload kiosk backup from disk
5.) Launch Workstation mode from grey screen and select settings, user level, administrator and when asked for a password just hit OK (there is no password)
6.) Select settings, restore  and then load settings from your workstation backup disk
Or - Proceed without backup disks (if you have not made / kept disks) If this is the case please ensure that backups are regularly made in the future for both kiosk and workstation
4.) Go to Password and hit enter new password and then OK without typing anything, repeat in the confirm password box immediately below, then hit Save. This removes the password so that eboxservice will not be needed again.
5.) Select software licenses on grey screen and type in codes manually.
6.) Select order settings on grey screen and type in print sizes manually.
7.) Select device and service settings on grey screen and choose type(s) of minilab and/or instant printer you use.
8.) Launch Workstation mode from grey screen and select settings, user level, administrator and when asked for a password just hit OK (there is no password)
9.) Select settings, machine settings, software license codes and manually enter your codes.
10.) Select settings, orders and manually enter your print sizes.
11.) Be sure to make backup disks in future!
3.) Direct connection? - Between your Image Box and your D-lab
If your Image Box and your D-Lab are joined by a straight wire (often red) and do not pass through a network in your building then no changes are required.
or Network Connection? - Between your Image Box and your D-lab
Only change the network settings if your network requires a change form the default IP address of 192.168.1.120 which is used by all Image Boxes. This will be a decision for your IT controller.
1.) Hit the Windows key on your keyboard and then select Control Panel and then Network Connections
2.) Right click on LAN or local area network and select  Properties
3.) Select TCP/IP (usually the bottom option) and then hit tab for Properties
4.) Enter the IP address for your Image Box it will currently be showing 192.168.1.120, the IT controller will allocate a new address and the D-Lab will need set accordingly.
4.) Everybody - Change the card reader name and configuration
1.) Hit Windows key and select Run...
2.) Type regedit.exe and select OK
3.) Browse through to
     My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\Software\Agfa\Agfa-box
4.) Double click on DriveConfig (about half way down window on right) and change from "auto" to Manual
5.) Double click on DriveName and change from "ERROR: unknown device" to Card Reader
6.) Go to File, then save and exit.
5.) If you have a later type camera card reader - Change drive paths
If you have a YE-data card reader (black face panel - most of our customers in Northern Ireland have these) then the card types shown on screen will not match the card slots. If you just put a card in and let it auto detect there is no problem but if you want to hit the card type on screen and then put the card in then you must make these changes:
1.) Hit the Windows key and select My Computer
2.) Go to
     C: \ Program Files\Agfa\Agfabox\Proflie\MEDIADRV.INI
3.) Change the path letters to the ones listed, making sure to use upper case
CF card - E:\
SM & XD - F:\ (except Falls Phy in Cookstown where XD card is I)
SD & MMC - H:\
Memory Stick (MS) - G:\
USB (front socket, in card reader) - K:\
4.) Go to File and then save and exit
6.) If you get a start up error - "Please remove all media from their drives"
1.) Hit the Windows key and select My Computer
2.) Go to
     C :\ WINDOWS\System32\usb-repair.ini
3.) Change HubWaitTime from 500 to 5000
4.) Go to File and then save and exit
* If you can not find your Software License Keys then hit I for info (circle in top right of screen in workstation mode) and select version info, then note the machine ID of your unit and contact the A&O service centre for your area. You will need to know which licenses you purchased with the unit in order to ask for copies of the codes. Without at least having the Workstation license loaded the kiosk will not work at all.
